As a child growing up in Midland, Michigan I spent many hours
creating imaginary stories with a large collection of characters
- my paper dolls.
Later as a science major at North Central College in Naperville,
Illinois, I took creative writing as a second major to balance
my soul. Following graduation, the writing continued to maintain
a sense of self in the busy world of singledom. I joined programs
in Chicago and Seattle, participating in critique groups to share
with others filled with a writer’s passion.
I write in my private time while maintaining a busy life with
family and friends. My two grown daughters and their families
are, of course my greatest fans. And, now after twenty-three years
of singledom and six years of marriage, my husband, Doug, has
become the supportive 'critique king.' From our castle in the
woods, I nurture flowers into bloom and fictional characters into
the light of day.
Since March of 2010 I have been on a medical adventure - a fight
against breast cancer and under chemotherapy treatments until
October. But I've been blessed with the love, support, and prayers
of family and friends and the fun-filled imagination of a writer.
The flower beds are filled with weeds and the writing has been
blocked by 'chemo-brain', but the flowers continue to bloom and
the writing will go on.
Please read Books in Progress.
I enjoy making presentations on my work - sharing writing experiences,
helping other writers get started, and giving tips on keeping
the writer fire burning and on track. Please contact me if you
would like me to work with you or your group in the future.
